The journey of HOMECOMING has been a labor of love, connection, respect, healing, creativity, curiosity, and ultimately, a return to myself. As much as this was for me, Homecoming is a brand Iโ€™d like to extend to you to make it yours. One of the best feelings in the world for me is being in good company and sharing stories and moments together. What does it feel like to be at home?

My parents had spent a decade in Tokyo, and itโ€™s the city where I was born and named after. When I was little, they showed me a photo of them during cherry blossom season; my parents were in a park with the sakura in full bloom, and my mom was pregnant with me at the time. As a young girl, that evocative image fascinated me and fueled my childhood imagination โ€” pink became my favorite color, I doodled flowers, I was fascinated with what Mt. Fuji looked like through the four seasons, and I dreamt up a world from the nostalgic anecdotes my parents reminisced fondly on.

That dream world became reality when I took a trip to Japan in 2024. It was the first time visiting since being there as a baby. I visited the apartment I was briefly raised in. I stayed in the neighborhood where my parents lived. It felt natural and I was at ease, walking around the same train station, taking steps on the same pavement, and being among Tokyoites. It was a funny, yet familiar feeling that Iโ€™d been there before. That I was simply returning home.

The other part of the trip was getting to meet my tea farmers in person. The hospitality and kindness from these connections will resonate through the business, and seeing how much work the process of matcha takes makes me have so much respect for these farmers and this industry. I hope to celebrate these farmers and show you the diverse and depth of flavors different farming cultivations and practices can yield. We have so much to learn!

Designing the Homecoming branding, I used the inspiration of love and connection of home through the creative process. The logo is a sakura (cherry blossom), anchored by the character for โ€˜homeโ€™ and โ€˜familyโ€™ in both Chinese and Japanese. The letters are gathered around together, as my family does around the dinner table. It is the heart of our home.

So, come as you are, and settle in. Whether itโ€™s a celebration of reunion, a gathering big or small, or even a sliver of time to yourself and ritual, I invite you to take a moment. Find a piece of Homecoming for you. Happy sipping :)

With love,
